The Claythorpe Café

Tearoom_frontThe Claythorpe café
is open to ticket holders from 10am until we close.

We serve a selection of sandwiches, lunch specials, drinks and snacks, with something for all budgets. And as for our cakes – we think they’re amazing!

Our menu incorporates as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, from the bread in your sandwich, to our perfect ploughmans lunch, with a choice of cheese or locally made pork pie. And yes – our ploughmans always comes with a pickled onion!

We have two dining rooms – the first sits right above the mill race, where the water wheel once turned. Overlooking the mill pond, it’s a gorgeous space where the water rushes by – right below your feet.

And inside the main mill building, the dominant feature of the room is the huge former mill workings, where you can see the cogs and millstones that turned for centuries while Claythorpe – formerly Empire Mills – was a working watermill.

On a sunny day, there is plenty of seating around the grounds in you want to dine al fresco, or take a quiet cup of tea by the mill pond. You’re very welcome to bring a picnic to eat outside or in the woods – but please don’t be too cross if one of the geese tries to take a swipe at your sandwich!
